I see people call Star Control 2 an RPG sometimes
It's certainly a great game in any case

What does /vr/ think of Star Control? I've been playing SC2 lately and I'm having quite alot of fun. The combat is a good kind of simplistic and I'm enjoying the universe. Not a big fan of mining though.

this game is extremely hard
how did people beat this without a walkthough?
do i really have to master autistic ship movement techniques to not get owned by a level one computer?

/vr/, I'm a zoomer who doesn't know enough about the retro world of gaming. But I recently finished Star Control 2 and... damn. This game had a sense of freedom and exploration I've just never felt in other games.

Where do I go from here? I've always been curious about the first System Shock game, would that be an okay next game?

So what's the appeal of this game? I just spent 2 hours in a clunky Super Stardust minigame collecting random ores. Does it get better?

Was it the greatest scifi RPG of all time, imitated by many but never duplicated or surpassed?

Is this game worth playing? Sort of just looks like a text-adventure/space invaders version of Mass Effect but a couple of people told me its good.
