I found this game lurking in one of my DVDs (it was in a snes emulator for ps2), decided to play it and is really fun and cozy.
Anyone here played it too?

I contest the Genesis's supposed platformer advantage.

Uhg is anyone else tired of all these yearly Umihara Kawase sequels? They need to rest the series for a bit

I can't get into this game. The physics are kinda weird and the controls are too stiff and don't read inputs very well. Randomly spawning monsters and no continues kinda hurt the game as well. What am I missing to enjoy this, /vr/?

So we agree this is the Dark Souls of retro platforming. What are the Dark Souls of other genres?

On Umihara Kawase you play as a girl, i think she's called Yumi, and have to get to the door of each level, called fields here.
To do that you will have to use your fishing line to climb through the levels. The line is very elastic and you can get momentum to throw yourself very far. Mastering the impressive game physics and just moving around is great fun.
The bosses though, they're awful. Their patterns take long time, starting easy but get gradually difficult. There's nothing you can do to speed these fights and if you die you have to do it all over.
The game have many routes you can go through and some are so short you can beat the game in a couple minutes, others are much longer though. There's a timer but you'll be given enough time to complete each field. You can save replays too and it's my favorite game for speedrunning.

This and I love it. One of the greatest games I've ever played.
