They take a little getting used to, but I stuck it out to get further into the game's world. You can try out the PC88 or PC-Engine CD ports, which control differently and are smoother (well the PCE-CD is at least; that's all I've played).

I'm playing the PCE-CD port actually and have gotten a little bit in. I hope there isn't a whole lot of backtracking because fuck me if I know what anyone is saying to me. I just clear out dungeons and bosses like a motherfucker.
