plus i saw the concept art, the Q2TEST (pic) stuff is more accurate to it than Vanilla, since FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASONPossibly tim willits, it removed all of the detail of said textures, and its kinda impressive how this model did justice to it.
And again, Q2 was made with high res in mind, carmack wanted it, but hardware limitations + development issues led to the retarded compression and blurry filtering as it became known until cheb fixed it years later.
Even the fucking manual monster screenshots has more detail than vanilla.

it seems that this was probably Timmy's autism during the development
the original faces had more detail than the blurry final release, even with the promotional screenshots

also i couldn't make it run here so i had to use Q1 PakExplorer
