It appears that pinball is suffering from the same malaise that modern vidya is in terms of too many remakes and the overuse of boring "safe" concepts for new machines.
If you look at what sort of things came out in the 80's and 90's you'll notice that in between the licensed movie designs, there are a whole ton of bizarre and unique machines based on concepts that seem to be too much for the current era.
Can ingenuity in pinball design be revived, or is the industry forever destined to pander to private collector nostalgiafag boomers as it dies even further?
