/vr/ - Retro Games

Any games similar to Little Big Adventure and its sequel? Also how well do they hold up today? I have fond memories of playing them back in the day.

(Or 'Relentless' in North America)

Complete shot in the dark--anyone else remember this? The original game has some truly awful voice-acting around every corner (though in 1994, multi-language V/A was still pretty novel), at least one game-breaking guns and can very easily force you to restart if you make a mistake with the auto-saves, but I still love the hell out of it and the sequel.

What a difference two years made: a 3D overworld (albeit with static but re-positional cameras), some genuinely good (or at least entertaining) voice work, large scale worlds (well, by 1996 standards). Same awkward controls, but it's hard to imagine them without it.

It's also one of the first CD game releases I remember, around the time of Rise of the Triad and a few others--naturally, there was a diskette version, but I'd swear that there was a short period that, if you had a CD-ROM, there was something like a 1/4 chance you owned this game in one language or another.

Or nostalgia has completely rewritten my memories. Anyway, LBA.
