>Would you buy games full price if companies started doing legit development for your favourite retro consoles?
Fuck no.
For a few reasons. Development would be far cheaper and quicker these days and so is storage space, we're talking dirt cheap. Plus developers suck shit today. Have you seen the shit Sega releases these days? There's no reviving that shit with awful developers.
Even if you did, they'd have to fight against competing prices from games out there, hardware would be far cheaper to produce. Plus fuck sega gamepads, they suck dick. Modern gamepads shit all over them. Emulation allows me to mix them up and configure them for six button controllers as well in a far better form factor.
If they built a new scene around freeing up options, using SD cards for saves and shit and had good devs I'd be willing to raise the price but still not full price, I don't pay 'full bullshit marketing way overcompensated for the work price' these days anyhow.

Pic related unless inflation makes twenty dollars the equivalent of five cents, which it most likely will one day.

10 bucks each for Star Fox 64 and Jet Force Gemini. Not quite a bargain but it fits with my policy of pic related.

I think I saw Dargon Ball Final Bout for several thousand bucks.

That's just bullshit.

I love them all, but the one that I'd include on a genuine games you must play before you die list is pic related, Loom being a close second.

Great economic and political simulator. You can also try Gloriana or the Patrician series for something similar.
> Alter Ego

Life simulator. Think of something like the sims but with more dramatic punch. There's a modern remake in here as well: http://www.playalterego.com/
> King of the Dragon Pass

Manage and build your own tribe. Very reactive and interactive story, basically a mix of CYOA and strategy. I also recommend The Lost Tribe.
> Frontier Elite 2
http://www.sharoma.com/frontierverse/game.htm
Deep and fun space combat/trading game. I think you should play the second one because it's an improvement in everything over the first.
Also try to play Starflight, which is similar to Elite but it's going for a more Space Opera approach to the genre: http://www.gog.com/gamecard/starflight_1_2
> Betrayal at Krondor

Story-based cRPG. The quality of writing trumps most fantasy writers with ease (nothing impressive in itself though). You should also check Planescape Torment, The Dark Heart Of Uukrul (great puzzles and atmosphere) and Ravenloft.
> Thief series

The first one is my favorite because it's the perfect mix of stealth, horror and gameplay-based intensity.
Man, there are so many more things to say, but I don't have the time nor space. Also try Aquanox, Scrapland, Darwinia, Unreal World and Sid Meier's Pirates!
