/vr/ - Retro Games

What's your opinion on this game? I played a lot of Wario Land 2 as a kid and loved it, still play it to this day, never played this and recently emulated it and I find it so slow and disengaging compared to 2, is it just the nostalgia or is the game not as good?

I now understand why someone wrote an entire book on Wario Land. I think this franchise beats out Kirby in terms of being perfect to hand to your child to teach them what a video game actually is, no pits, no game overs, no damage, all enemies are just minor setbacks that do something funny that can even help you. They have the space they need to explore and figure shit out.
Anyone have any other recommendations for literal, actual Babby's First Vidya? I reckon the next move is the GBA Kanto remakes and some PS1 educational games (I got my toddler a cheap Anbernic and can only go up to PS1.)

I've been replaying Wario Land 3 for the first time in many years. What does /vr/ think about it?
Felt like starting the third game in the series with Wario missing half his moveset kinda sucked. The day/night gimmick doesn't seem to add a lot asides some small parts and the whole game feels a bit repetitive with its

>Do level
>Unlock multiple levels
>Do those
>Get a new ability
>Go back to old levels
>Repeat
It's certainly a bit less fun than I remember it being.
