>All three of these are a massive massive joke compared to the NES. The Master System has about three great games and those would be Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, Golden Axe Warrior, and Kenseiden.
NES is the most important and iconic console of all time, of course everything looks bad when it gets compared to it, doesn't mean they're a joke or that there's only a few good titles to play, the Master System, for what is it, is a superb console.

I could go on and on about this library... is it as good or full of options as the NES? No, of course not, but if you were stuck on an island with some Master System and its full library to play, you'd be busy for a long while and it'd be fun to play.

>SNES also smokes the Mega Drive and PC Engine btw
Ah... alright, I get what you're trying to do now, you're one of *those* people, good for you then.

This.

It's tough, because the Master System, by itself, has so much going for it, but it's overshadowed both by an iconic and classic successor... and the arguably most beloved and important of all the home consoles ever made as it's competitor, it's a tough spot to be in, and it doesn't help that it had most of its library ported to the Game Gear, which was also more popular overall... a shame.

We have to believe, SEGA and TecToy bros... if its anything like the Master System Evolution, then we'll be eating good, that's for sure.

As a Brazilian all I can say is that we don't do this much, I do see Master System Evolution units on shopping malls and video game stores, but never see anyone owning it, maybe it's more common if we're talking about poorer families, or a gift for a young kid, but even in those cases I still see PS2s way more... anyways, Master System Evolution is quite cool and I'm glad TecToy still makes them.

I wouldn't mind these consoles if it wasn't for their main gimmick, being "mini" and all, I think they look awful compared to a regular sized console, if they had the same size as the actual console, accurate controllers and I could add ROMs easily, then it's not that bad, but I hate the entire "mini" aspect of it and it ruins it for me.

We need more sleek emulation consoles like the TecToy Master System Evolution, it's not huge, and it's lite, but it doesn't look like something I could lose out of nowhere due to its small size.

>it also has an inferior downport to the master system (like half of that system's library is. god the master system sucks ass)
It doesn't suck at all, it had a ton of classics that aren't just ports, and overall it had good ports if you take the hardware into account, sometimes the Master System version was actually better in a few cases, it's a superb console and library still.

I'd say that Master System has a very strong library, its main issue was having the NES as its major competitor, that's a death sentence really, but overall it did well and if you had one, either on Europe or South America, since US didn't really get many releases, you'd be well off.

I agree with this almost 100% despite the fact its posted just for fun and/or to get a reaction out of people, but while it's true that NES was more common, just not the official one, and that SEGA was more well known for the Mega Drive than the Master System, also that Master System was never this popular thing that everybody owned, most people have never heard of it... but still...

Master System is way more of a big deal here than in pretty much any other part of the world, we still have TecToy's Master System Evolution being sold in stores, and it looks sleek, and while not a lot of people buy it, enough people buy it for it to ALWAYS be there, for YEARS now, with a few revisions here and there. Also, a lot of people grew up with one and/or have nostalgia.

Brazil isn't a Master System heaven where it was the main console at any point, but it always had a presence, way more than any other place, and it was a big deal, just never the main character.

One of the very few disadvantages of Tec Toy's Master System evolution is not having a slot for cartridges so I can play all of these beauties with their iconic box arts... still a fine looking console though, Master System deserves a lot more love.

Indeed... including releasing a Master System in recent years with a bunch of built in ROMs and a new design with Sonic in it! I mean, jokes aside, I think it looks sleek, wish I had one of these.

I haven't browsed SMS Power in the last few months for some reason, thank you for reminding me, going to check out if there's anything I missed out on while I was away, this community's just incredible, I recall playing that Sonic 1 SMS hack that makes it look pretty much exactly like the Genesis version, I got hooked for some reason, just so much cool stuff to see here and to play.

I quite like the way these machines look, I'd get one if it weren't for the price, about R$250, so the price of a PS4 title. Also, I don't like how they're shipped with these 6 button controlers, 4 would be fine, 2 standard buttons and 2 turbo buttons, but 6 makes no sense considering it's the Master System and not the Mega Drive/Genesis. One more thing is that, while good looking on the outside, the interface is something straight out of Microsoft Paint and it's really just an emulator with 132 specific ROMs, I prefer to just use an emulator with all ROMs I'm interested in.
