>everyone forgets about Castlevania X68000
Has anyone here managed to beat this? Since you die in 4 hits in the later levels, it leaves very little room for error.

Castlevania for the Sharp X68000.

In the later stages you die in 4 hits, no exceptions. This can make some bosses extremely difficult. This game is included as the original mode in the remake, Castlevania Chronicles.

My personal favorites:

1. Castlevania III
2. Rondo of Blood
3. X68000(I like both this one and Chronicles' soundtrack though)

Honorable mention: Dracula X.
So many people love to rip on this game, but I really liked it despite it's similarity to Rondo. It's still one of the most challenging in the series, and I give it props for that.

Favorite stage: SCV IV's stage 4.
As this one of my first SNES games, this stage just blew my mind. The effects aged pretty well too.
