ProTip, the pistol can be made pretty fun by;

>giving it a nice smooth set of animations
>making it able to fire about as fast as you can click your mouse
>giving it a sound that makes it fun and exciting to use, like a loud crack, with the faintest sound of the slide moving
>to make the chaingun not pointless, it has a magazine of say, 12 or 15 rounds or whatever, but before you object, it should be reloaded really quick, and automatically, like in Duke Nukem 3D, just swiftly swapping magazines and you're back in business
>it probably doesn't need a damage boost, but if you do, just give it 2 or so extra points of damage, any more wouldn't be quite balanced

Pic maybe related (if you feel like spriting), when they described the pistols in the novels as "10mm", it immediately made me think of the Delta Elite, and I couldn't get that notion out of my head, even when it was described as having a gas-piston later on (though the books WERE highly inconsistent at parts).
