They didn't have to kill him in a boss fight at all. They could have just had Fou merc him like he did the emperor. That would have taken ZERO effort. And the bigger issue is still the fact that the absolutely called huge attention to his survival. They didn't just not kill him. They rubbed the fact that they didn't kill him in the players. That is 100 percent intentional.

And it was beautiful. I know people are mad, and Im mad to because fuck Yuuna. But it's just so thematically perfect for him to not be dead. The final confrontation has so much more weight because of it.

That's capcom backpedaling. Yuna's survival was always intentional and it was brilliant. The whole final conflict between Fou and the party is giving so much more power because Yuna was still out there. The ultimate conflict of ideals, are humanity worth saving, do the good outweigh the bad, is it worth protecting the innocent if it means the guilty go free? BOFIV is glorious.
