The NES and PCE share a very similar CPU, meaning that very large chunks of the code can be retained meaning the porting process is rather easy. A professional team with documentation could have these ports done in days.

Porting some arcade game is MUCH harder.

Do any of you fine gentlemen know anything about the PC-Engine/Turbografx-16?

I may be interested in buying one. But there are things I'm not so sure about. For starters are PC-E games compatible on the TG16 and vice versa?

Also I've heard rumors that hucards are notoriously...not good. As in they die really easy and you're basically taking a gamble buying second hand games.

I have been having problems trying to play TurboCD/PCEngineCD games on any Turbo emulator (I use PCejin and Retroarch. No matter what, I can only load the cue file, and nothing else.

Also general Turbo/PCEngine thread.

I never understood why they took such a sleek sexy machine and turned it into a hulking piece of black plastic. The original PC Engine is beautiful.

It's a 8 bit system, CPU Wise, but due its very high IPC, it could run neo geo ports without lagging, unlike the genesis and snes.
