The number pad didn't interfere with the grip and was arguably forward thinking. The only flaw the controller had was going with three buttons and the buttons themselves were kind of stiff. The six button version should have been the standard for a 1993 launch but for some reason they made it a separate purchase.

The Jaguar pad was somewhat forward thinking. My only real beef with it is the action buttons are annoyingly stiff. It's much harder to glide around them compared to the Genesis/SNES.
