Ghosts N'Goblins was intended from the beginning to be more of a goofy, cute series so I have no idea what happened behind the scenes with Dai Makaimura for Capcom to decide its cover art needed to be sick as hell.

But this series DID provide a major influence for future platformers! The 2nd game, Ghouls 'n Ghosts was the 1st platfomer to feature slops and physics associated with them in its design!
