Look how good that simple packaging looks. It has nice attention-grabbing stickers and good heat-pressed seal on the plastic.
This is my favorite thing about Japan. Quality and presentation is still important there in many places. You buy tools made in Japan and they have that same serious quality put into them. There's a pride to the craft and marketing.

Post more. Also, to help your thread, I'll ask a related question. Why do the Japs have such high-quality packaging compared to other places?
The little boxes that games came in usually had great designs and colors, vs the shit we got.
Even my Revoltech boxes are much better than the shit you normally find on action figured here in the US.

I WISH I had them all. We will NEVER have it that good again. You know that right? PC gaming destroyed it all.
If you're a fan of videogames as they were and were always meant to be, only one target should draw your fire.
The one that popularized internet social networking faggotry.
The one that invented "expansion packs" which were the grandfather of lootboxes.
The one that put graphics over gameplay.

So maybe this is the wrong place for this but I thought that I would at least try posting here to gauge interest.

I've been living in Japan for the past two years and it seems like I will be doing so for the foreseeable future. It took me a bit to learn the good places but in the time I have been here I have found a multitude of places selling retro games, consoles and accessories, often complete and in excellent condition for far less than they would cost online.

My question is if anyone on /vr/ would be interested in me locating something and then figuring out how much it would cost to send it to them. I'm not in a big city so the odds of me finding something really rare are pretty low but I could keep my eye out. Alternatively I could take pictures of what is currently available in the local stores and post it here where people can make requests.

Ideally you would be able to find what you are looking for much cheaper than you would on ebay or a specialty import store. I'm not looking to make this my job but I wouldn't do it pro bono either. I'm thinking either a flat rate fee per item or a percentage of the total value. If enough people are interested then I could look into setting up some kind of running list or form where people could make requests.

Anyway, I hope that this doesn't come across as slimy or in poor taste. I just know that there are times I definitely would have liked to have someone in Japan to look into these things for me and I wanted to offer others that opportunity.

It's already past 10 here but I will still be up for a bit to answer questions if anyone is actually curious.

Pic related, unfortunately I don't have a lot of pictures right now but if anyone is interested I can go out and take some this weekend to give you a better idea of what is out there.
