If you're into that sort of thing, Sega CD has a few fantastic RPGs that you can't really play anywhere else. Lunar Silver Star and Eternal Blue are some of the best RPGs of the whole 16 bit era. Both got remakes, but neither is as good and Eternal Blue's remake is straight up hot garbage.

Shining Force CD is fantastic and Dark Wizard is solid. I don't particularly care fir Popful Mail, but it's good for what it is.

Sewer Shark is a bad game by any measure but fairly easy and worth either a play or youtube watch for Robert Costanzo chewing the scenery literally

I played through this whole dumpster fire of a game just for more Robert Costanzo. That and it came as a pack in but I remember actively disliking playing it most of the time.

I had one and aside from the RPGs which do get talked about, there just wasn't much to write home about.

I'd never say that I was having a blast, but there were some bits in the later levels of Sewer Shark where it gets intense enough to be kind of fun. I was mostly suffering through it for the Robert Costanzo though.

The flatline makes a lot of sense. For a long time games that weren't current got under valued, SNES games sitting in bargain bins for 10 bucks or the like. But as appreciation rose so did the prices back to roughly what they originally were. There's the odd spike for something amazing and rare and a dip for somethings less than great and very common, but in general the prices just migrated back to what they had been.

Why do you have a room mate so much younger than yourself? This is either bait or you're some kind of manchild.

Ignore their questions, answer mine. What do you have against Adventure Games? Have you just never played them? Why are you so invested in forcing Zelda under the umbrella if RPGs when it already fits another genre far better in every way? This makes no sense. I don't even really care, but you spam the board with it over and over. At least explain yourself.

Pretty much this, though there was also always backlash as well since one of the things that never changes is gamers love to complain. I'll say this though, semi shamed as I am to admit it. Sewer Shark was a real turd of a game but I basically played it to the end just to see the clips of Robert Costanzo haming it up.

A combination of wanting to keep the budget as low as possible and already low standards. Though remember that Sewer Shark did had Robert Costanzo who was a pretty big name actor at the time.

Sewer Shark came with my Sega CD and I tried to tell myself it was good, but man it wasn't. I did beat it though so that says something.

Try having grown up when these games were new and saving paper rout money for months to get a sega CD. Piddling about five or ten dollars for a game is really something.

Is this some AVGN term? I've never heard it before now. Anyways the Sega CD does have some pretty shitty FMV games, though a couple like Sewer Shark is cheesy and easy enough to be sort of worth playing for comedy value.

Overall though I think paying attention to bad games on a system is pointless. All that matters in the end is great games, and Sega CD had a fair share of them. Play the good, ignore the bad.

Not just voice acting! Sewer Shark has some of the most hilariously awful acting ever. It's a shit game, but well worth playing just for Robert Costanzo.

I had some genuine fun with Sewer Shark back in the day. It was an awful game, but somehow the overwhelming cheesiness of it all kept me going. Robert Costanzo was pretty great.
