Just got started in the 90's, importing for the capcom fighters. Later got the Psikyo shooters in a cheap lot buy just on a whim. That rekindled my love for shooters.
My tactic was to wait until JP ebay sellers had a 15%-20% sale, buy several games at once combined shipping. Did it maybe once a year.
Hyper Duel was still around $70 iirc, pricey but it was pristine w/spine card. others you mentioned were $20 - $35. Most I ever spent on a Saturn game was actually for a US Burning Rangers

Really had no idea prices spiked so much until about year ago when I looked into picking up a few I'd always wanted. Shit. id expect them to maybe go up some, but not double over three years time.

Hey.

Just fyi saturnbro's, a suggestion for any valuable NA saturn games. Ive been sticking a piece of thin cardboard or posterboard behind the manuals for years. Not too tight, don't want to break case's little plastic tabs, just enough to keep the manual held in place evenly.

It keeps the them from bending and warping over time which they are very prone to do.
You can sort of see in the pic here the copy of Wipeout here doesn't have any backing and is starting to bend. Even some manuals that had warped a little were straightened back out some doing this for years on end. Just a suggestion, works for me.

Like I said, I was lucky. I never sold off my Saturn stuff. Got into importing for capcom fighters in the late-90's when I was in hs. Got into shooters a few years later. Just kept going until the mid-2000's, anytime I could find games for $10 or $20. Prices on ebay were so cheap back then, wish I had gotten more.
