Fighting games are actually one of the hardest genres to do well. Even in Japan, most not made by Capcom or SNK are bad (2d) Making it both interesting to play while not being horribly unbalanced is a super fine line. They did try with EC, but they failed badly.

Mortal Kombat is the only of those that's actually good and though I prefer it and always have, on a technical game design level it's nowhere near it's contemporaries.

Weaponlord is close to being incredible and if a sequel was ever made on better hardware it could be. But as is, neither of the consoles it was released for could really handle it so they play like laggy garbage. Which is a real shame because the bones of it are awesome. The other two games aren't worth mentioning.

It sucks, Eternal Champions Is one of those games along with Wealonlord that could have been incredible if they ever got an arcade quality update. So much potential, but the home consoles of the day really didn't have the power to make them shine.

I wish. With more frames of animation and some tweaks it could have been incredible, but as is it's middling at best.

SamSho is more popular but I've always liked Last Blade more.

For a 3D fighter, Soul Edge and Calibur are solid.

Weaponlord fits the bill. Too bad it's not a better game though. Ditto with Skeleton Warriors.
