They are the kinds of games that appeal to me. Sega did give those other games and failed as expected. Besides, the technology/infrastructure may not have been there yet for them to make their own Fortnite, Minecraft, PubG, or Halo at the time, they definitely did not have the talent/skill to do so then, but they are making efforts now that they bought up Rovio for the Angry Birds. The future is bright for Sega now.

I like them since the mechanics are pretty interesting and they were great times playing with/against friends and family. They can be fast paced and technical, with great visuals, and devilishly addictive, which are some of the aspects I look for in the videogames that suit my tastes. I know that most don't share my taste in games, but I am glad there are games which cater to my tastes every now and then.

Tecmo Super Bowl is so much fun. I can lose a whole night just playing, and the next thing I know is that the sun would be rising.

Don't be too rough on your future backup/starting QB there. Those are horrific passing numbers for a QB, you should fire your GM because those preseason numbers are fool's gold.

Speaking of the Concussion League of America, what is the best home version of Blitz I should be playing?

Sometimes I use it as a balancing method. For example, when playing against my cousins who did not play video games as much as I did, on the Playstation version of NBA Jam TE, I would choose the rookies team and stick with Dare and his 0 ratings for everything (like 3pt shot) though the game while she would choose a team like the Charlotte Hornets which has 2 players with very high stats in the 8s and 9s (Johnson, Mourning) and 1 tiny player (Bogues) allowed to substitute. It mildly tipped the balance in her favor a bit, but I'd still tend to win as I tend to increase her teams injury rating more than she would injure Dare. I could still get great open 3s and plenty of second chance shots such that I can overcome the balance deficit. We still laugh at it as it was fun with a somewhat balanced match rather than a fully dominated game session.

I tend to main mid-tier fighting game characters, like SF's dictator, because they fit my style and personality more. I am unhappy I have to work so much harder for wins than those who use the top-tier characters like Ken, but the character suits me more. Maybe in sports games, some could enjoy a dominating defense over a team with strong offense, a lean towards run over pass, southpaw over orthodox, etc. as that suits the player more.

I like sports games. If you're looking for some good ones on Dreamcast, I would say the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games, Hydro Thunder, and Metropolis Street Racer are pretty good.

At this time I am thinking Tecmo Super Bowl, it's addictive fun.

Racing games definitely got better with technology. I think sports games were equally able to be great and awful through the times.

I do. I enjoy playing them as much as I do with other genres. There are plenty of other genres of games if sports are not to your favor; there's sure to be one you can have fun playing.

I actually like sports games, but they were mostly bought in the late 90s early 2000s, so I have no idea how it is in modern day, but the games are pretty good.

It is a shame not many people like sports games. I think they are really fun. The competitive and cooperative elements really stand out. Played the games a lot with friends and family and it was always a great time. I think my appreciation for watching a lot of sports stems from the enjoyment I have from playing spots videogames.

I bought a lot, and I still intend on buying some more sports games if I can ever afford the new consoles. They are good, but I chalk it up to youtubers or influencers constantly spouting that sports games are not their thing giving sports games a bad reputation.

Super Dodge Ball is what I am enjoying all over again. Windjammers is also pretty fun. There's just so many, it is hard to choose.

Madden 94 for SNES really? What makes it stand out (especially against other editions)? It is always in the $1 bin.

>>4273949
I wish I could afford an AES or MVS+supergun and BVM setup to play that. I am so jealous.

This would be my answer too. Super Dodgeball is very fun. I wish I had gotten Crash and the Boys Street Challenge too.

>>4164263
Windjammers is awesome. However since Super Dodgeball was already taken, I will say R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 for its amazing soundtrack. That late late night with neon colors illuminating the night aesthetic, crusing along at fast speeds, to that music is bliss.

Sports games is not awkward at all. My co-workers' eyes light up when Madden or NBA2k is mentioned. I find sports games to be some of my favorite games to play.

What do you mean? I talk about sports games all the time here on /vr/.

I will agree they are good games. However, don't go assuming because I never owned any Madden games, but I did have Tecmo Super Bowl which was NFL.

I learned the rules of American Football from playing Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES same with basketball through NBA Jam. Now I am avid fan of those sports in my country.

At this time I am not a fan of the ice hockey sport and don't want much to do with it, but maybe through the sheer fun (if the games are fun) of the games, maybe I'll gain an appreciation for the sport. I decided somewhat recently to see if I can replicate my learning experience with ice hockey. So I got NHL '94 on the SegaCD also grabbed NHL'14 on PS3 because it was $2USD, and I'm considering NES Blades of Steel or Nintendo's own Ice Hockey or even Wayne Gretsky's 3D Hockey on N64. Hope to find some fun in those games.

They aren't for everyone, but they can be very fun, especially if you have others to enjoy them with co-op or competitively.
