/vr/ - Retro Games

Hello /vr/. Recently I was helping my mom sort through our storage shed a few days ago and I found my old super ninteno and games I had from when I was a kid. I ended up taking it home because mom wanted to throw it out and I was feeling nostalgic. So I've been playing my snes for the past few days and I've been enjoying it a lot. The only problem is I didn't have many games growing up so my collection is small.

What are some good games to buy for the SNES? I know the staple games like the first party games are good to buy like the mario, zelda, metroid and donkey kong games. But what are some other great games to play that I probably missed during my childhood?

On a side note, is the snes everdrive worth the money? Any help would be appreciated.

So I've got a SNES that used to belong to my cousin. It's pretty broken (when you pick it up, it rattles around like a maraca) but It seems like a waste to thrown it out.

Do people buy SNES's just for parts? Is it worth putting on Kajiji or should I just toss it.

I want an SNES. I've been trying to reconfigure my life and kicking my interest in modern games for this seems to be the right move. I just want a minimal experience. I'd rather not emulate, but I'm not against it entirely.

Anyway I have a question, how will it perform on a HDTV? It's all I have, and I'd hate for it to look like piss.

Does /vr/ have a "required reading" list for each generation?

Sup, /vr/, I have a question for you guys... A friend of mine is working on a project related to storytelling in video games, and they want to know about what the earliest possible plot twist in games was. I wouldn't really know where to begin to look, but I figured you guys might know.

Is there maybe some kind of obscure text adventure that had a plot twist? Maybe something more recent than text adventure? Any help would be cool.

Where do you buy your retro games online /vr/? I'm trying to get a SNES for a relatively good price online but every where has this thing listed for a ridiculous amount.

people from /vr/ i need your help, there was an snes game about a guy who gets reduced, i mean he gets into a miniature guy, and then he has to defeat like germs, and bacterias, acroos his room, there was a part when you have to step into a soap or something, also you have to pass obstacles like pushpins, and lego things, the guy used like a green uniform, and black glasses, can you help me with this??? you will earn my whole life respect if you do...!!

Living in the US now, but I'm moving to Poland hopefully next year. Was going to bring over my NES and SNES. Can I use a converter or is it a no go?

I say the latter because it's on the fucking system. Hearing people say "snesss" always aggravates me a little.

I am going to be getting an SNES this weekend.

I'm planning on getting: Donkey Kong Country, Super Castlevania 4, Link to the Past, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy III, Contra Alien Wars, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Super Metroid, Chrono trigger, Turtles in Time, and Earthworm Jim.

What great SNES games should be added to my list? Money is no object.

I've never liked sidescroller Mario games.

What the fuck is wrong with SNES9x? It won't load my saves. (They are normal saves, not save states)

>Computer B loaded it just fine, and I continued onto World 4. Saved.
>Transferred saves to flash drive again, and put them back on Computer A.

>I figured I just did something wrong, so I tried it again.
>This time, just to make sure, I zipped the entire SNES9x folder on Computer B and transferred that.
>I put it on Computer A. Now I have the same folder with the same saves, files, and .exe.
>It still only loads World 3.
>It loads World 4 on Computer B, but World 3 on Computer A. They're both the same thing.

Is there something I don't know about? Are there "real" saves somewhere else? Is SNES9x intelligent and knows what computer I'm on or something? What the fuck is going on?
