Finally beat Plutonia just now. It was...alright, I suppose. The difficulty of it isn't overexaggerated if all you've ever played are the other commercial Doom WADs. The level design is also pretty tight for the most part, but they don't feel very "Doom-y" in layout or looks, though maybe I just don't like the jungle theme.

Still suffers the same problems the other Dooms had in that a solid chunk of the middle maps are pretty weak compared to the rest of the WAD. The midi mod really saves it all, though. I can't imagine playing this with the base Doom 1 and 2 music playing all the time.
Tl;dr It was probably the most cohesive and well made commerical Doom WAD out of the 4, but I still prefer 1 and 2 over it. Fuck TnT, though. That one is just plain garbage for the most part.

Welp, been about 2 fucking weeks or so since I touched Plutonia and I've finally decided to go back and try to finish it after reaching level 15 "The Twilight". I was fucking sick of playing Plut since the previous few maps had left a really bad taste in my mouth. No shame in admitting I had looked up a guide on how to beat it before booting it up again just now. The firing squad of chaingunners hitting before I could hit them and overreliance on far too many secrets to adquately handle all the challenges of the level just wasn't fun at all to me. Definitely my most disliked Plutonia map by far, even more than Speed. I skipped the secret level and plan on going back to it after I've completed the rest of the WAD since I'm well aware of what Plutonia's secret levels are like.

Still, the burn out from Plut lead to me finally getting started on Quake, beating all 4 episodes on Hard, and now currently playing through it again on NIghtmare, so it was probably for the best. I fucking love Quake so much.
