I can't understand how anyone would favour the soundtrack of Super metroid more than that of Metroid 1.

Maybe you are right, maybe I am not that good, but I can't go down to Kraid's or Riley's Hideout with only 30 HP. That's two enemy hits and you are dead. I need at least two full health tanks in order to go down there.

I played Metroid for the first time in my life in 2011, and I found it fully playable. The only bad thing about it is that you must spend 10 mins whenever you die to fill your HP which was just annoying.

Super could have had the Spider Ball easily. Just put it near the end, like M2 did. The Space Jump is essentially the same item, mobility-wise, and no one is claiming that broke the game. You can finish the game without Space Jump and you can finish it without Spider Ball.
