Why were there never more games like Bangai-O? Sure there's Fantasy Zone and Defender and a couple more that are vaguely similar, but it always felt like a wasted opportunity. Shmups are fun, but being almost all auto scrolling seems odd.

A thing is worth whatever the owner chooses to charge for it. Whether it's also worth that much to you is the question.

Personally I got one used for around 30$ at a pawn shop and that felt steep for how much I liked it.

I'm not so sure. I'm way more of a Sega fan than Nintendo (don't like most big N franchises like Mario etc) and Treasure is one of my favorite developers.

Honestly Bangai-O did the switch bullet thing better.
