RE1fags just need to accept that if the technology was ready in the early-mid 90s when RE1 was being developed, REmake 1 is what we would have gotten in 1996. REmake is literally textbook definition "the tech just wasn't there for the original release". REmake 1 represents the developers original intentions, had the technology been there in the 90s. You have to accept reality and stop coping. "Disney haunted mansion" is, quite literally, the developers original intentions.

GameCube REmake:

PC/PS4/Xbox HD port of REmake:

>A lot of rooms do look significantly better and more detailed than the GC original, though a handful look objectively worse. Black levels are slightly crushed throughout.
>Easy to use a nice Dpad of your choice for tank controls.
>60fps on PC as opposed to the Gamecube's 30fps. No physics or difficulty issues unless you turn off the tank controls (do not do this).
>No disc switching, obviously
>Much harder to hook up to a CRT
>Improved character models (Chris looks fucking weird in the original by comparison)

If you've never played REmake before, play the HD version and make sure you play with 4:3 backgrounds and tank controls ON. If you enjoyed it and want to see the backgrounds in beautiful 480i on a CRT, play the GameCube version afterwards. No real point in emulating the GC version on Dolphin honestly, the remaster looks better on the whole.

Never played the Switch port but apparently the load times are dreadful, so I'd avoid that.

I see no good reason not to like them both. I think they both hold up as individual titles and also compliment each other. TL;DR - I like RE1 Director's Cut and the Classic REbirth PC version, although it annoys me that Jill's campaign doesn't use save ribbons. For REmake, GameCube/Wii on a CRT or the Steam version.

casauls who never played RE 1-3 love the easy kill ganados and hold forward gameplay.

I am embarrassed to say this, but I have finished REmake 1 on hars like 20 times but still have yet to play the original RE1. I have played the fuck out of all fixed angle RE except RE1 ;_;
