They are neat little things, lots of good games in an easy plug and play form.

A hard drive company had already copyrighted the name in the US.

But yeah MegaDrive is a much cooler name.

There is quite a bit of input lag on the ones I’ve played:
>SNES
>Genesis
but then I’m used to playing on og hardware on CRT, so maybe someone who is used to emulation on a modern display won’t notice, but I sure do notice

for me they are just neat display knickknacks

I bought both the Japanese & American MegaDrive minis, and bought another American one to give to my cousin as a birthday gift.

all are great fun, there’s obviously save states too so that’s cool, only down side is the input lag, but you can get used to it

Yes and also yes. It’s a solid lineup of games and you get 42 of them, that’s a lot of play for the money.

The model one has the better sound, particularly if you are getting audio out via the headphone jack. Although it has to be the one that says “High Definition Graphics” on it. Or for the Japanese models “AV Intelligent Terminal, High Grade Multipurpose Use”.

Also be sure to get one with the VA5 board because that one doesn’t suffer from distortion like earlier boards do. VA6 if Japanese model.

> Feel like I NEED to get the Genesis mini to go with them
Might as well since you have all the other ones, just be sure to get turbo gfx also to complete the collection.

Unfortunately these mini systems are pretty disappointing with the metric ton of input lag they have. I mean they are playable but are kinda frustrating. I got the MegaDrive mini but only because I’m a SEGA fan and just wanted it for the novelty of it, it’s a nice display piece. But I’ll stick to original hardware on a CRT.
