I love the feeling of being all alone, fighting your way through as well as drawing your own map. The music is fucking great. Problem is when you die, you lose all your health and you need to spend 10 minutes to fill up your HP. Annoying

>Mega Man 2
One of the easiest MM games I know, but it still great and to me it represents all of the wonderful series. Extremely tight controls, when you die you yourself fucked up, the game didn't "cheat".

>Super Mario Bros
While SMB3 has some better functions and SMW is my favourite Mario game, I love the difficulty in SMB1. The others are too easy for me to fully enjoy them.
