>I played 1 and 2 before third game and it was easy to realize for me that series indeed needed some innovation, there were nowhere to proceed for devs without changing anything. Our era of copy-paste cashgrabs wasn't a thing yet.
You're very correct that 3 RoE is where the original concept for the series pretty much hit a wall, and the devs realized it, which is why they tried to do a different things with 4. However there's a reason why 3 is still played to this day and no games after it are, and that's because it's reached the peak of what it tried to do, Plus, literally no Heroes game after 3 shipped as a finished fucking product. Literally every release was bugged, none had good AI, and all stopped development before the full vision for those games was fully realized.

>Although i think 6 was pretty good. It fixed most compliants i had with 5 (except the music maybe, majority is just recycled from older games). I also liked the resource reduction, the territory system, magic and skill rework was great, and the dynasty system was pretty fun. The only bigger downside is that it requires internet connection, but nowdays it's rarely an issue.
Brainlet spotted. 6 killed logistics (hire everyone everywhere, town portal is a common spell), 6 killed town development (moreso than 5 did), 6 killed hero development (take mass regen ez), 6 is barely even a Heroes game, it plays more like if King's Bounty went more in the adventuring RPG direction than strategy, except we already have a better version of that, it's called King's Bounty by Katauri. There's very little 6 did right, if anything at all.
