This is likely your personal views getting in the way.
He produced a lot of content and it brought new people onto the scene and this fantasy that they all play Brutal to the exclusion of everything else is just baseless.

He needed to not react to people saying stupid things by saying stupid things himself. The idea that it's all 100% on him is people trying to rewrite history or whining about some mark defense force.

Like it or not, Brutal brought a shitload of attention to doom and it was overall a great boost. The only people that know (or care) about Marks drama are generally other doom modders and those who follow them closely.
