>But there IS a difference
The differerence is that the IQ goes from Great to Great with little difference. Keep in mind, I am a USA anon. The only things that had RGB were non-consumer sets and we didn't get component video in systems until ps2/xbox/GC. We only had Scart on one consumer TV ever, and I have never seen one personally.

Svideo is not "superior" to component, but the difference does not justify spending hundreds or more to modify a console and finding the proper television to support it. Rework a few retro systems to work with non-native connections and you will realize that you have spent quite a bit of money and time for something that is negligible, and in some cases causes visual artifacts. I hate to be the guy to say "as the developer intended", but in some cases they got it right.

Very few 2nd hand SD crts offer component video. Most were made at the end of the age, and they are few and far between. In my 5 years of SD tv shopping I have found 2. I bought the first one (samsung tx-r 20") and just last weekend I saw a 32" sanyo....which I did not buy for $20. I don't know sanyo's quality, but I assume it is in the same boat as a Hundai.

As for being "blind". Last time I had my vision checked it was 20/12.

>What is even your fucking argument here? That people are willing to spend a lot of money on shit you think is dumb?

I was very very clear on this subject. You seem to be trying to read in between the lines. I will re-quote myself so that you can see what you missed and exactly what I meant.

>I have a certain respect for people who mod and spend. They are doing what they want. However, they throw their terrible opinions around like they are fact.

The pic is showing, even on a tiny ass display, the issues with composite and svideo. Look at the rainbow gradient on text. Disgusting.

Chill dude. Shit will be ok.
Also. If you are that much of a newcomer bear in mind you also have to buy (or pirate but that's a slightly harder task) an OS. Use whatever version you are comfortable with.

What computer (if any) do you have now?

Might be. But I bet my ass that APU can encode up to 1080p (60fps too maybe). I don't think you can even buy a new AMD GPU without UVD at this point...

it's not about the resolution, it's about the bandwidth and quality of the connection.

480i looks its best when outputted from a high-quality connection.

SCART-RGB
Component-YPBPR
Super-VHS Y/C

any of those produced amazing results with 480i (or 240p) content.

I mean even from somebody who just wants to watch movies and TV's you can see a huge world of difference from better connections.

it's fine if you prefer how video looks on a certain connection. that's your preference after all.

I don't see what the point is in arguing what something should be across the board.

why must there always be absolutes these threads? can't we all just get along?
