Bangai O
F-Zero X
Sin and Punishment
Star Fox 64
Doubutsu Mori (Animal Crossing)
Super Robot Wars 64
Custom Robo
Custom Robo V2
Shiren 2
SSB

I would probably be fine with those for 10 years, lots of content and fun.

Unique.
I wish there were more itanocircus-core games.
Anyone played Hover Attack? It was ported to modern PCs recently and on steam, still haven't tried it, but this game was the main inspiration for Bangai-O's sort of 0-gravity platformer/shmup hybrid, though without the itano element.

Rare definitely. While they had some kickass games like DKC1-3, Goldeneye, and Conker, they had too many ok to bad games, especially after the Microsoft buyout.
Treasure is definitely better, even if a couple of their games are overrated like Gunstar Heroes (Alien Soldier is easily better) and Ikaruga (which is still really good, but Radiant Silvergun and Bangai-O are definitely their best shmups).

It's debatable really. Graphics on DC are more detailed/more "next gen", N64 looks more like a 16-bit game (albeit a very impressive one with thousands of shit exploding everywhere). I personally prefer the more retro look of N64, but I'm totally biased here, and the DC one looks phenomenal as well. I will say though, I do like Bangai-O's sprite on N64 definitely more than on DC. When you unleash the missile fury, you can seee multiple panels coming out of its body on N64, on DC it's more simple and only 2 panels come out of it. I also prefer Mami's bold green projectiles than her lasers on DC, they fill the screen more, which is cool considering Bangai-O is about seeing shit flying up everywhere. Regarding backgrounds, I also prefer them on N64. But again, DC looks awesome and has a more advanced/next-gen look.
For sound, they're also different, N64 and DC have different music, some rearrangements but mostly new songs on DC. Hard to say which one is better, matter of taste. I like both. I do not like the amount of voice clips on DC though, it's an interesting novelty at first but becomes a bit annoying after a while. Not sure if they can be turned off, can't remember.
>bombing system
I disagree here, I prefer being able to fire as many missiles as I can instead of being limited by the amount of enemies on screen, like on DC.
>plus more content
I think both games have the same amount of levels, 44. DC does have a couple extra bossses though, but spoilers: bosses in bangai-O aren't really that great.
THAT SAID; you should play DC one first. For one, it's more accessible, and it's also easier, not just because of the safer bomb mechanic, but also because you don't need to level-up your shots, and there's HP refills everywhere.
If you like it, and want more, try to play the N64 original, if possible with a N64 controller, and using the left control scheme as the developers suggest it's best (move with d-pad, shoot with stick).

I like Bangai-O's art style way more than the Dreamcast remake's.

>The way they programmed many 2d elements was layering them on 3d objects
Isn't the same case with Playstation? Most famous example is SOTN. They had to make flat polygon renders and add textures to give the illusion of 2D. But ultimately, to the human eye, it's still 2D anyway.
Is there any actual proof to support what you're saying, that N64 had trouble doing 2D? Because I don't think so. There are 2D games on N64 that have nothing of 3D (pic related for example). But again, main reason of lack of 2D (or RPGs, which still relied on 2D heavily back then) is that N64 was expensive, and if you were going to invest on N64 development, might aswell use its main feature, which was having more powerful 3D than PS1 or Saturn. If you wanted to do 2D, you had the cheaper Saturn or PS1 options.

Upgrading isn't as easy, you'll rarely be beyond DC's default power. Most of the time you'll be below. Also Mami's shots are weaker by default (since her bullets bounce on walls), but on DC she's as powerful as Riki.
Having more bomb capacity is a double-edged sword, you can waste away missiles if you're not careful, on DC you always have enough depending on the amount of enemies on screen, it's more limited. Also DC enemies drop HD refills all the time.
Anyway I'm not saying DC is bad or anything, as I said, both are worth playing.
>What's wrong with using the face buttons to move and the stick to aim your shot on the Dreamcast?
Didn't say the DC's controls are bad, but shooting in 8 directions with the N64's analog stick (while moving with the d-pad) feels more natural. The devs themselves recommend this scheme on the game manual. You can still opt to use the C-buttons instead, though.

What do you guys consider Bangai-O to be?
I know it's based on an old ass indie japanese game for home computers called Hover Attack, which mixes shooting with platforming, but Bangai-O also adds the whole itano circus thing.

I also didn't knew Missile Fury had a level editor, that's nice.
Since the game is called "bangai-O HD", most people think it's like a remake of the original, but from what I've seen it's completely different, in both art direction, plot, and most importantly levels. MF has some crazy shit like, soccer balls, whatever, it looks nuts.

One of the great things about Treasure is how diverse their games are. Few people like everything they've made, but most people like at least some.

I never got the appeal of Gunstar Heroes, but Bangai-O is one of my favorite games of all time. Variety is great!

damn, I thought you were talking about Rogue Squadron, I need to go to bed because I'm half drunk already.
Bangai-O has better graphics and sound on DC, but I still find the more retro graphics of the N64 very charming, and I value controls over graphics. Still, as I said, both versions are different enough, if you liked the DC version, playing the N64 version is mandatory.
