I've been thinking, did the fifth generation of consoles really have any 3D platformers? A good majority of them, at least the ones on the N64, were more like 3D exploration games/scavenger hunts. There was lots of jumping around, sure, but I would not be comfortable calling Donkey Kong 64, for instance, a platformer, since the areas were huge flat surfaces for the most part with very few platforms and timed jumps required.

Nintendo 64 was the most important console of the '90s. PSone may have changed the format we play games on, but N64 did more to innovate gameplay. Super Mario 64, GoldenEye 007 and Ocarina of Time to be more specific. And Star Fox 64 was the first game to feature a vibrating controller. Not to mention N64 featured an analog controller.

Nintendo 64 kills the PlayStation in terms of multiplayer. On the other hand, PSone had more games. So it really depends on what you were looking for. My point is let's not forget how important the N64 was just because other consoles had more games.

But since we're talking "best" console and not "most innovative," I'll say it's a tie between Super NES and PlayStation.

Metal Gear Solid > Super Metroid
Crash Team Racing > Super Mario Kart
Breath of Fire III > Chrono Trigger

On the flip side:

Final Fantasy III > Final Fantasy VII
Diddy's Kong Quest > Crash Bandicoot: Warped
Yoshi's Island > Spyro the Dragon

It all depends on your taste, me thinks

I wouldn't take the Saturn lightly. It has Radiant Silvergun, Saturn Bomberman, Guardian Heroes, Nights into Dreams, and Panzer Dragoon Saga. Those games fucking rule.

Just running around and being all acrobatic in the castle, and a few levels, could be really comfy.

>there are people on /vr/ who think there was any flat shading used in this picture

>there are people on /vr/ who think that not every ounce of the environment in this picture barring Mario is textured
