Part of the issue may be that the first game was on a Sega console which was not popular, so people who did not have the unpopular system does not need to care for games unavailable to them. Konami did eventually release dual sequels multi-platform, but that initial association with Sega has a huge negative effect. The modern Silent Hill producer did his best and got Konami to go ahead with a reboot and recognize the existence of the character, but unfortunately may not have stuck the landing not being wildly successful, probably due to the character being a product of its time. There was a cameo for Sparkster I remember in Mitsumete Knight. The potential is still there, since I still love the Rocket Knight games as much as I do Contra, Gradius, and Castlevania, but you got to let the kids enjoy their own thingl besides the young earners is where the market targets. A lot of characters got modern remakes that resonate with the kids these days like Conker, Barbie, and Marvel characters so maybe the market is still welcoming if they can reimagine Sparkster for the modern crowd.

I found the most recent game kind of low quality. Credit to the Silent Hill producer for getting it done. I'm glad it is still alive.

I love the games, and they have a lot of charm, but the last game was kind of priced a bit high at 1200MSP when the average game is 800MSP. It is a bit niche, so they had to charge more because it would sell less. So the mix of a low sales and high price just keeps it down.

I thought it was cool back then. Looking more closely at it now, the rosy cheeks doesn't do Sparkster well in the US version.

The producer of the HD Silent Hill collection really liked Rocket Knight too and got a new release for the series too. His heart was in the right place, but management was bad as was his ability as a producer. I wanted to like the new Rocket Knight, but it was repeating old beats at a slower pace and lacked the personality. At least Sparkster had a cool cameo in one of my favorite date games.

I find it enjoyable on normal but it is really the "hard" difficulty, and that's only because I've played it a lot back then. They renamed the difficulties from the Japanese version in the US version. The challenge is part of the process but keep at it. The game will throw new things at you through your journey, but the mix of charm and challenge makes it great.

I really liked it. It has charm, pretty good music, and the character was cool. The SNES sequel is pretty good too. I got it for the Super Famicom because I liked that original so much.
