Das rite. I don't get into too many fight sims these days, but back then, it was the kinds of games that made some unique aspects of the PC platform.

It is a small wonder, but I did memorize and actively used a lot of those for the games at a young age. Given the high difficulty, a lot was necessary for success.

Hell yeah, the space combat games were my jam too. It was way cooler to play the villains too. Give Privateer a chance, maybe even the Freespace games too.

Return fire to drive away the enemy. Capital ships has a lot of guns and will wear down the shields fast so you cannot stay in their range for long. The shields are a buffer before you sustain damage to armor or other critical systems; they will regenerate if you have diverted more than average power to shields so long as you're not taking sustained damage to them. If they are going down too fast, you can also allocate some rear shielding from the rear to the front shields, or vice versa as needed for the situation. So in theory you could have up to 4 meters of shielding in a single direction.
