The only reason people are so autistic about not making an exception for GBA, is because despite what people claim, /vr/ actually *IS* for defending one's childhood games as being retro. the 1999 rule is fantastically stupid because 5th gen babies get to pretend their modern 3D games are retro AND be elitist about the GBA despite it being closer to 4th gen games than 5th gen.

Also during the early days of /vr/ GBA was banned from discussion, but then so was 5th gen and 5th gen babbies cried, and cried about how their games predate 1999 until they got their way.

tl;dr: 5th gen shouldn't be on /vr/, GBA has always been technically against the rules but only reluctantly so until 5th gen autists needed to defend their modern consoles as retro.
