That change in ranking happens a lot for me when I replay a series, now. I think I value and appreciate the simplicity in earlier entries more than I used to.
2 and 3 are still great, and for slightly different reasons for each, but yeah, the first completely edges them out for me now for the reasons you state.

And in short order, too. For any shortcomings, we got three incredibly solid games in the span of three years. I miss those days.
