Civ 2.

Its the one that I can still go back to today and enjoy more than the recent games.

For that sense of nostalgia and experience at the time its probably G-Police or Tomb Raider. I found them mind blowing at the time.

Anything menu driven like JRPGs, anything text driven (go west, pick up lamp etc), anything turn based and most point and click adventure games.

The best game in those categories above is Civilsation 2 which is still a better game than civ 5.
