Well, it is also beautiful on the inside.

Nice. I've only really played 2, since that had other cool elements like mini-RPG segments.

Thanks, it is one of my favorite DOS games. I also have the other games in the series, but 2 will be my favorite as that is the one I played most.

I would pay $15USD for the Windows version there. That one I think is the same as the refine version available on Steam, with the increased colour depth. However, I do find the more limited colors and sharp pixel art of the DOS version more my style. How's the packaging on the inside? I love the wonderful care even on the Gainax branded discs and foam, did that Windows CD-ROM look nice too?

Yeah, it doesn't help that I want one bad that the prices are so high. They look so cool, and the sounds really work for a lot of point & click adventures I like. Also as mentioned, the Roland sounds tend to be the basis of a lot of my favorite console games' soundtracks.

As for the AWE32, it says CT3980 for its model number. It does have a wavetable header, but I have not experimented with any wavetables. If worse comes to worse, I know my uncle still hoards the Gateway 2000 P5-75 that I played the game extensively on, and I can probably salvage the sound card from it (which I think is a Sound Blaster 16). I just have to make some room as I'd probably want its 17" CRT monitor too.

I want to play that game. I remember reading about N.U.D.E., but I do not have a Japanese Xbox (original).

On the Dreamcast version or the PC-98 version?

I am very fond of the old pixel art and how I remember the SoundBlaster made the game's music in DOS. I still want to upgrade my 486DX4-100's sound card from a Virba16 to maybe an AWE32. However, I really wish to hear how it sounds through a Roland MT-32. It is one of the games I am hoping with a J-Win98SE build to play around with DOS/V for. The ways I am going about playing the game is a really expensive way to do it, but I am trying to replicate my memories of playing the game. Today, I think for anyone else, DOSBOX is likely the way to go, if you are like me and prefer the pixel art of old. However they did release a newer version for 256-color and a higher resolution with Refine for early Windows, but somewhat recently localized for modern Steam.

I did find it funny the "un-dress" adds to the refinement stat. Judges in the dance contest sure appreciate that. Then again, it is inappropriate behavior these days with the metoo or whatever. So the game is a product of its time, and not suitable for modern audiences.

I figured it out. I was sad to see the big box game with the lenticular hologram was Mac only at my local bookstore. However, on searching online I remember the title is Shadoan, and it appears to be on PC as well so I am mistaken that it was a Mac exclusive. It seemed so interesting to find a game I had never heard of on the shelves.

Amazon has it for PC for $1USD less (counting the tax my local municipalities will levy) than the Mac version, but with an uglier lenticular cover art.

Fuck! I recently decided to eBay purchase a 486DX4 as self punishment for throwing out my old 486DX4 machine that I kept until 2007. That was my DOS machine, but I had thought DOSbox was good enough so to lighten the load when moving. Just about a week ago I had the crazy thought to get a Roland MT-32 to pair with a SoundBlaster (haven't decided original, 16, AWE32, AWE64, or Gravis Ultrasound) because they look fucking cool, pretty modern looking, and sound really good from youtube samples.

Just a few days ago LGR released a video on the MT-32 and now the creator died ... probably causing the expected spike in eBay price.

Last one I was going to purchase through "Buy It Now" but wanted to wait for my next paycheck, but some fucker decided to bid the bare minimum, and the thing ended out more expensive than the BIN price. I hate my burger flipping job.

Anyway, one of the primary reasons I am redoing my 486 build is because I do enjoy Princess Maker 2 for DOS. So here's the retro vidya music in SC-55 which also looks very cool and sounds nice, but I am not sure it sounds as good as the MT-32 to me in subtle ways:

I also haven't decided on a video card yet either, I am open to suggestions on what I should get (including aforementioned sound card.

DOS/V ... the discs are nice, with even the metal slide covers with the Ganax logo on them. Inside, the box has fucking foam to seat the discs (ordered by alphabet).

I am so jealous of your stuff. Want them too, but that's the nature of Japan things very differently, practically in reverse to western thought. To combat piracy, which is easy on computer systems, the PC games are priced higher with more extravagant packaging, making one want to have the real thing instead of bootlegging. Sadly, it just made me not able to afford more of the good stuff.

>>3515862
Exactly! Though I wouldn't call my first playthrough getting the generic/bad endings. I just liked to see the variation of outcomes.
