On Mother 1 it's definitely the whole last part, starting from Teddy's town (Ellay or Valentine). Getting into the night club, having a drink and go to jail. It's one of the biggest clichés in RPGs, when you get captured and you lose all your items. But the way it's done here has the parody and humorous element that makes it so memorable. You just buy your equipment back from the same policeman after you get free. Police officers selling weapons to kids, great.
Then the whole Teddy scene when he fights you, then joins you, and kicks Lloyd out for being a nerd. He comes off as an asshole, but then you learn about what happened with his parents and his motivations and you feel sympathy for the guy, plus he's a great party member with lots of buffed stats to tank through the perilous cave to reach the final destination of the game, Mt. Itoi. I won't narrate the whole Mt. Itoi sequence, but damn the plot advances a lot and it's all done in beautiful 8-bit sprite and sound aesthetics.
For Mother 2 I really like the beginning, Onett feels super nice to stroll through, and dealing with gang members and Frank was a nice nod to Teddy and his gang on M1. Then of course Fourside/Moonside, Saturn Valley.
On Mother 3 it's when time passes and you see the transformed, urbanized Tazmily Village, chapter 4 I think. Lots of stuff going on, you just need to talk to everyone to learn what happened. Also Tane Tane Island.
Favorite NPC is the moms in all 3.

I like it, as anon above said, it's a DQ clone, but that isn't a bad thing.
I like the setting, characters, music, enemies.

I got a Teddy on a whim off ebay a while ago, I think it cost me $30. I just checked on ebay and it's still the same price but I think I've occassionally seen him cheaper.
I don't know why I choose Teddy, can't remember what other options I had but I think it was only Ninten, Ana, Pipi and Lloyd, it was when the first batch of these were released, before the Mother 2 ones. Having Ninten would be the no brainer but I really liked Teddy in the game and I thought his model being bigger and more complex than the others made it worth it, but now Ninten sells for like double the price. Teddy's still cool and the second tallest figure, after that awesome Starman.

Teddy is pretty awesome, I love how he's introduced (by being a boss fight), and when he joins your party his physic attack stats are so ridiculous that he does amazing even if underleveled.
The battles gets severely turned up in difficulty at that point anyway.
His presence in the game is brief, but memorable and enjoyable. It's still definitely wasted potential, there could have been more development, but it's still well done.
Also, there is a way to keep Teddy until the end of the game instead of Lloyd, but you have to go to Mt. Itoi with Lloyd, and find Eve first. Once Eve dies, you go back to the town, get Teddy, and go back. It's not practical, but hey it's cool.
