Ive been saying that last bit for a long time now. Yuuna surviving is just to perfect to not be anything but intentional and Im glad to see someone else who got it.

It wasn't because they ran out of time or budget, it would have been easy and cost nothing to add in a scene where it happens even if it wasn't how they wanted. But not doing it just adds so much to the final confrontation because the weight of it knowing that someone that awful is still out there gives Fou the footing he needs to stand out in the final confrontation.

A normal anime of JRPG will say something like PEOPLE ARE GOOD DEEP DOWN and while a lot are in the immediate sense all the major villains will have been deal with so the villain just looks like a shallow edge lord twat. But BOF4 is different it gives it's villain weight. Are humans so bad that we need to harm the innocent if it means punishing the wicked or is their goodness worth protecting even if the wicked go free. That looses something if there's not any wicked to go free or any good to punish.

>That guy WAS the bad end in 4. Him getting away made it feel like the game wasn't finished even after Ryu and Fou-Lu do the fusion dance.

I disagree. I feel his survival actually does a lot to give Ryu and Fou's final conflict actual weight.

If Fou wants to kill everyone even the innocent to punish the wicked then Ryu as his opposite wants to save the innocent even if it means the wicked are spared

plus if you're into the prequel theory someone has to create the false goddess

Ive heard a lot of theories about how Yuna was supposed to die. Cray kills him, Rhun was supposed to have come back and offed him or he would have gotten eaten by A-tur.

frankly I don't think any of it's true. In fact I think they intended him to survive because it just makes too much sense for him not too.

A real common theory is that 4 IS in fact connected to 1-3 and is their prequel. The idea being that it's Yuna who creates Myria and gives Deis her snake body.

It's just fan theory but I think it makes a lot of sense especially since the game ends with Yuna talking about how he can create as man "gods" as he needs

naturally of course we can assume he creations go full Merry Shelly on him and tear him apart because fuck Yuna.

also there's some thematic crap in there about how humanity can't be judged solely by the wicked and Ryu fighting to give them all a second chance because they're good at their core even if aberrations exist

>I remember that, I think his entire plot is about him slowly growing to hate humanity which I always thought was really neat. Getting to see the villain's motivations develop firsthand.

yeah that was great. He started out with a god like superiority complex, on account of being a god but had nothing even close to resembling contempt. He was just wanted to take his thrown back as par the ancient agreement. It was only after Yuna and the Emperors action that he went full genocide. And it's hard not to agree with him a bit.

I've always been interested in reading the manga adaption of the first game since it supposedly expands the story quite a bit. IV might be good enough on its own but IIRC the manga is supposed to provide closure on Yuna

they do not. And I think there's a reason for it.

the popular theory as to why Yuna lives is that BoF 4 takes place before all the other games and it was actually Yuna who created the goddess Myria

I wanted to see Yuna fucking die too but that theory works just so perfectly...

we can also assume that Myria kills him though
