The Suchie-Pai games are just Mahjong with cheating. There's all sorts of moves like exploding a tile (make unusable), seeing opponent's hand, etc. The Sonoda-sensei character designs are a staple with the series too.

The Super Real Mahjong games sometimes retained some characters between iterations. They do enhance the gameplay with snappier UI and tile selection over time. I have a strong suspicion the computer cheats and manipulates the tile setup. I guess that's why the SuchiePai games are a bit more fair since they allow for the player to cheat back.

I'll more often miss days or even weeks in a row due to the random shifts everywhere. The board moves so fast now. It is just cool that others also enjoy the games I like too.

In those days, the Sega Saturn was my primary console for multiplats. I'd typically get pixel art games on the Saturn and polygon games on the Playstation (some exceptions like Castlevania for PS while I got Grandia for the SS). I had so much fun with all the games I enjoyed on it because the games were really cheap in clearance bins since the demand was with other systems, so I amassed over 300 titles for the Saturn and I actually think all but one of them are good. Aside from PC and 360, I have the most titles on the Saturn, so I don't think there are few games.

The Saturn is in my personal top 5 consoles, it's contemporaries are up there too within the top 25.

I guess the Suchie-Pai games, they are like mahjong, but with cheating.

I thought that was a PS2 version's extra ending. The Saturn release was green label.

I'd prefer if they were hardcore opposed to softcore as well, but I still like the games.

I guess those games appeal to me. As I have not found many of those games that catch my eye these days, reflected in the reduced amount of titles that interest me as time goes on. Still plenty that I like, but nowhere near the amount as it was in the past.

In those days, I'd get the good exclusives for both platforms, but for multi-plats, I'd choose for them on the Saturn unless they were polygon heavy like Toshinden or Resident Evil. The Saturn games were cheaper and more often found on the clearance racks because no one had the system. Even without many popular titles, I still like the system a lot, having almost 3:1 games for the Saturn to the Playstation it remains one of my favorite game consoles.

Enhances a pretty boring game with no real strategy greatly. Some of the more interesting arcade games I have emulated. Gave notable artists more character design work. All part of my balanced diet of video games.

Back then, to me, Square/Squaresoft could do no wrong. Practically almost all my purchases for my SNES was from them, and Final Fantasy was the flagship titles with Tactics and 4 still being some of my most fond games. I remember they hype back in 96 when I first saw a commercial for FF7 when Rurouni Kenshin aired. FF7 was the event, as it was a shared experience, everyone played at the time, but its luster wore off immediately to me upon completion while it appears to have maintained a level of popularity here on /vr/. Final Fantasy games practically dictated the most popular platforms back then, as they were system sellers. So I guess it is understandable why there may be many threads.

As for Saturn imports. I am grateful my Playstation was slowly dying, and instead of getting a replacement, I decided to get the Saturn instead. Back then every Saturn owner knew they had to import, so modding the system was required and was quite the personal experience. The timing was perfect as Saturn games were super cheap, with games on the discount/clearance racks, because of the massive popularity Playstation and its Final Fantasy gameswere garnering in my region. The games were cheap enough that it was a surprise when I have over 250 import games for the Saturn.

I don't have Quo Valdis 1-2. I see that game all the time, and its only notable factor to me was the Macross-like art.

I like the VNs and strip-mahjong games. Nothing wrong with them.

Great choices. Some of my favorites for the system. I liked Radiant Silvergun enough that I bought Soukyugurentai (Terra Driver) on a whim. Just because it is a ST-V shooting game too. It still remains as one of my most favorite EA titles. I don't have the Saturn Dracula X, back then and even now everyone hated the Saturn version, and we were all fine with the Playstation version. For such a hated game, I now want it, but it is super expensive now and I wonder why.

Here are a few red label games I can think of on the Saturn. I realized I forgot Nonomura Byouin no Hitobito from Elf was also a red label game just after taking the pic.

This is actually not true for the red labeled Suchie-Pai games. They sure show their anime tits even on the back cover as demonstrated in my pic.

That's the contract of being drawn by Urushihara Satoshi. Sadly they probably have a lot of bush too with the way he draws now. I preferred the bare floors he almost had long ago for his female character designs.
