What I talked about wasn't about wanting to use the mentioned exploits but NEEDING to use them in order to survive especially early on.
Why is getting this so hard for people?

Not using the attack-cancel exploit means it takes about 50 to 100 battles to gain a weapon proficiency level or few points of attack power and potentially NEVER being able to do any worthwhile damage with physical attacks.
Not hitting your own guys to get more HP pretty much guarantees that enemies you come across are able to one-shot kill your guys especially if they attack before your guys. This isn't exactly fun in lower levels of dungeons.
Casting something like Ice 1 does little to no damage even to enemies weak against ice and potentially NEVER being able to do any worthwhile damage with magic.

I don't know about you guys but I think spending some time using these exploits sounds like a better idea than getting tons of game overs or spending ages playing the game normally to get the same gains.

Once again I'm talking about the NES and PSX versions here and from what I have heard the GBA and PSP versions are easier, better balanced and removed the stat losses making them much more tolerable. If you guys are hellbent in provong me wrong by all means do a recorded longrun of the NES version of FFII were you go through the entire game without using any exploits or spending any time grinding for stats.

It's true that most people start from /b/ and then go to one of the other popular boards like /v/ and /a/.

> /vr/ is significantly farther down the ranks of board traffic
Going from /b/ to /v/ to /vr/ is a likely scenario and IMO the PSX vs PS1 threads about what the original Playstation should be called alone is a proof that we already have people like that here.
