As someone who only enjoys classic Castlevania, do any of the later games feel similar to the classics?

It's incredibly annoying that major swathes of this game are hidden in crevices and pits the player instinctually avoids.

Then when you decide to replay it you can't remember which routes you took or didn't take, and you always feel like you're missing out on something somewhere.

Pretty sure that's Rondo of Blood. Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's overrated, and the reverse is true as well.

Whats the best way to get into PCEngine for someone who's never played? The emulation options seem odd.

What CV game havee you guys been playing?

Currently playing Dracula X SNES version, got into it seriously for the first time.
Dracula is kicking my ass or rather pushing it down pits.

That was doing a playthrough going through Stage 5', I managed to save Maria but have no idea where the other girl is yet.
I couldn't get past regular Stage 5 because of that damn Werewolf.

I've been playing Bloodlines also, I managed to do a no death run using Lecarde on Normal. Doing the same with Moris will prove slightly more challenging, the rotating staircase and the pillar boss are hell with him.

Did NEC have some kind of exclusivity deal for Rondo and that's why it was never ported to other consoles? That would explain why the SFC version is a totally reworked game.

Porting Rondo to the PlayStation/Saturn would have seemed totally obvious. It could have been marketed as "come play the prequel to Symphony of the Night".

When Castlevania Chronicles was announced, everyone thought it was gonna be a port of Rondo, not the more obscure Sharp x6800 game.

Is it me or is this game really easy compared to, say, Castlevania 3? Even Death was a complete pushover.
