RetroArch and Mednafen seem to be the most popular emulators of multiple different systems out there, and they do look excelent, but from what I understand they require the installation of different modules for the consoles you want to emulate separately, are there any emulators that lets you run ROMs for plenty of different consoles out of the box without having to install anything after it? I feel that higan is kind of like that, but I'm not 100% sure. What are the other emulators that do all, or at least most, of the most popular Nintendo and SEGA systems? Out of all of them, which one is the easiest to use out of the box?

But I'd like to have a large collection, but I find it difficult to display this in a way that just doesn't feel like hoarding, or as you said, blatant consumerism.
