It was great. I used to work night shift after school at McDonalds. When we all finished we'd go home and play SC till 1 or 2 am. This was before esports was big so it was just a bunch of dudes being casuals. No insane strats besides RUSH and REVERDROP were a thing yet. It was gimmicky and really fun. BGH maps. Friends unplugging their phone lines because you were about to beat them haha.

Diablo 1 was great. There was nothing like that. I was a normie kid who skate boarded until that game came out. Pulling all nighters on battle net. Making geocities/webjump pages for my guild. It was fucking LEGIT. PK, cutting peoples ears off. It was a magical feel.

You'll hate me for saying this but the closest I've ever gotten back to this in a modern game was BlackOps2. Old battle.net had a bit of a bro element to it. It was literally DOOM/QUAKE bros or really stinky asian nerds who seemed to live at your local cyber cafe (remember those?).

Anyway, fucking good times. Intuitively Id like to blame modern gaming but it's just me. I got old. I'm sure kids will be posting about fortnite in 20 years with the same nostolgia.
