Well, depends on your definition of unplayable. It is possible to boot into the game now, but you need a very powerful computer to run at acceptable speeds.

Using z64gl in interpreter mode, you CAN at least play Rogue Squadron, although very slowly and with graphical glitches.

And there's no reason Jabo shouldn't release the source code of his plugins. His stuff still does some things other plugins do not, and it would be a disservice to the community to hoard it.
