The novels start out relatively in line with the games and somewhat believable, but throw all that shit out the window go full retard after the second one with all kinds of benevolent alien species and time travel into the future.

I don't really think the games were made the way they were with anything like those stories in mind, though. What you saw in the instruction books and intermission screens was pretty much all there was. It was an excuse plot, they said themselves that super indepth storylines weren't important to them. The main character wasn't some Flynn guy, it was "you".

That said, I guess it means you can make up whatever shit you want since hardly anything is explicitly explained, so go nuts, I guess.
