lol good one you had me going there for a minute.

Vice City was actually part of the first major wave of “80’s nostalgia” that shockingly has not let up. The hair metal band “The Darkness” became popular soon after. It had a boom in the early 2000’s, a boom in the late 2000’s, and a boom in the 2010’s. It’s just that good of a decade. At this point it’s safe to assume 80’s nostalgia is never going away as the USA (and Europe/Japan) are culturally stagnant and live in the large shadow it casts. It stands as the apex point of western capitalism/cultural hegemony before it started collapsing in the 90’s.

I’m dating a 20 year old zoomette who thought the 80’s was literally synthwave/stranger things/vaporwave.
So much has been lost in translation to the youth and I wasn’t even quite yet alive in the 80’s, just completely brought up on it. I feed her copious amounts of fast food and fuck her huge fat ass while we watch John Hughes movies so she knows now.

Also the post-2015 synthwave boom is a lot of try-hard garbage made by cuckolds who love John Carpenter’s music but do not understand what made it work. In a word: over-production, but not all of it is bad of course.
