Have you played Echo Night 2 yet?
If you consider 1 a gem, 2 will blow your socks off.
It's been translated for a few years and it runs great. Echo Night 2 became one of my top 5 favorite games of all time after playing through it shortly after the translation dropped. It's so underrated.
I played 1 after 2 and was a little let down but 2 was a lot to live up to.
D is pretty good. Frustrating at times though, I needed a guide here and there.
If you're going to count Jumping Flash then I'm going to recommend Hexen.
The Witch of Salzburg is a game that has not yet been translated. It looks very promising if you can into runes.

Depends on what you like.
Clock Tower is aces for horror.
Star Ocean 2 is a fun JRPG.
Vampire Hunter D is a Resident Evil clone for fans of the VHD: BL movie that some people don't know exists.
CastleVania Symphony of the Night is a game most people would probably recommend if you've never played it.
Echo Night 2 is personally one of my favorite games of all time and again no very well known.

I've been playing ZAMN off and on for over 25 years and I did not know your could fuck the UFO up

If you've never played Echo Night 2: Lord of Nightmares, this is the Halloween to do it. Echo Night 1 is also good but 2 is superior and you do not have to play them in order.

Fuck King's Field.
Play Echo Night 2. Then play Echo Night.
Trust me. I started with the King's Field series and wished I had wasted no time getting right into Echo Night 2.

Played this at the suggestion of someone here and was completely absorbed. The English translation is great and it's a wonderful game for distraction, plus the story, graphics, and game play are great.

If you enjoy Echo Night, and perhaps even if you don't, please check out Echo Night 2, aslo for PSX and now with an English translation patch that is 100% complete.
I spent a couple summers ago with Echo Night 2, and it is hands down the best game I have played in years.
After I cleared all of the endings in EN2, I played Echo Night. EN2 is vastly superior. I have not played 3, but I don't expect it or any other game to ever top 2.
I did find a few parts of EN2 genuinely scary, and that in itself is a feat. But the atmosphere and story are what really makes it shine.

I'd also like to recommend another severely underrated series of games: the Echo Night games.
Echo Night (PSX) is a fascinating and horror-steeped game that is as fun as it is challenging to work through.
Echo Night 2 (PSX, a flawless translation patch is available) was, unfortunately, only released in Japan, but is absolutely worth downloding and patching. It is superior to its predecissor in every way: a more engaging story line, multiple endings, considerably toned up on the horror, and some of the most enchanting graphics I've seen on the Playstation. I cannot recommend this game enough. I was captivated by it when I played through it last summer. Please do yourself a favor and check it out. I played through it before EN1, and I don't regret it but it was certainly the superior experience and EN1 was slightly disappointing as a follow up but still a great game.

Eternal Darkness is fucking awesome and I really wish GC was considered retro because every time I try to talk about this game on /v/ the thread gets slid within minutes.

Echo Night 2 is one of the best games I've ever played and it's absolutely spooky. There were moments when all the blood in my body was rushing to my head because I didn't expect things to go the route they did and I spent a lot of the game paranoid. I can't even stand to hear a bell ring any more because of this game.

Echo Night one is a gem as well, but 2 improves upon it in every way.

Clock Tower (SFC) and Clock Tower (PSX) are also in my top favorite games to play year long but particularly in the autumn. If you've not played CT, play those two. Avoid The Struggle Within (PSX) and Clock Tower 3 (PS2) at least until you've played the first two games because SW and 3 are utter shit by comparison.

Do I have to play D1 to get D2?

Also, throwing the Echo Night series into the ring.
Echo Night 2 legitimately scared me at different points. Echo Night is also a great game with an effectively creepy atmosphere. Please check them both out. I beat them out of order and still had a wonderful game playing experience with them both.

I played through this blind last Fall, best fucking game I've played in years. The fan translation was an incredible labor of love and it's what really got me appreciating fan translations in general. I even contacted the team to tell them how grateful I was that they did this and how much joy it gave me to play it. Then I played through part 1 and am in the process of acquiring part 3. If you haven't played this gems, check them out.
Here's the EN2 patch:

I recently beat Echo Night and Echo Night 2.
I consider both among the best PSX games I've ever played and I'm itching for more like it. What would /vr/ recommend I play?

Also, Echo Night general, I really can't get enough of the games.

I just finished Echo Night 2, best game I've played in a long, long time.
It's aged fantastically.
I'm about to start Echo Night, and if I like it, I'm considering buying Echo Night 3 (for PS2).

Anyone wanna talk about the Echo Night series? Anyone played Echo Night: Beyond (EN 3) for PS2?
