I-is this the secret origin of the whole Mr Bones' Wild Ride fiasco?

So reading through some of my old game mags, pic related was the game of the month for Saturn. So naturally I picked it up and tried playing it.
It sucks. The review made it seem like it was an action/platformer, but it's not even close.

So my question is, have any of you guys picked up a 'game of the month' from a retro mag only to find out apparently they bought the score?

I've been considering getting a Sega Saturn lately. It looks like there's a handful or two of games I'd want to play on it, and they seem cheap enough. I bought a Dreamcast last year and it was a good choice, but half of the time it feels like the only benefit it has over emulation is that multiplayer is easier on the console itself than setting up all the shit with emulators and whatnot.

Is it worth getting a Sega Saturn or should I just emulate it? Are there any good multiplayer games for it?
